Piskopiano. Piskopiano is a small and friendly village on the Greek island of Crete, located two kilometres north of Hersonissos. It is located on the slope of Mount Charakas and between the villages of Koutouloufari and old Hersonissos. Piskopiano lies a few hundred meters from Koutouloufari, and resembles Koutouloufari. Just like Koutouloufari, Piskopiano is a small village, with very nice restaurants, tavernas and cafes and the villagers are very friendly and welcoming. In Piskopiano, which has about 400 permanent residents, there are also some nice bars . Many tourists and Greeks who do not like the crowds of Hersonissos come to Piskopiano but actually it attracts everybody for a day or evening out. Piskopiano is surrounded by beautiful gardens, and lies idyllically at the foot of the mountains. The view of the sea is stunning. In Piskopiano is a beautiful church and a museum which are worth a visit. There are some really nice little hotels and apartments for rent. Piskopiano was founded in the Middle Ages, when pirate attacks drove people away from the coast and whom searched for safety in the hills.
