Saronic Gulf islands. The Saronic Gulf islands are located in the Saronic Gulf, which is the Gulf of Attica southwest and northwest of the Peloponnese. The most popular islands are accessible, especially for the Greek tourists (mainly from Attica and the Peloponnese), because they are close to the mainland and easily reached via various ports (including the port Piraeus). On holidays and weekends they are very busy. The Saronic Gulf Islands are Poros, Salamina, Aegina and Angistri (Agistri). Two other islands that belong to this island group are Hydra and Spetses. If you look on the map below, you can clearly see that Spetses and Hydra lie in the Argolic gulf at the edge of the Saronic Gulf. The Argolic Gulf is a gulf in the Aegean Sea off the east coast of the Peloponnese. This gulf and its islands are sometimes combined with the Saronic Gulf Islands, with the result called the Argo-Saronic Gulf and the Argo-Saronic Islands
