Rodakino - Rethymno Prefecture (Greece)
Rodakino. Rodakino, which literally means peach, is a small village on the island of Crete, about 50 kilometres south of Rethymno town, near Plakias. It is located at the end of the pass between Frangokastello and Plakias. The village consists of two parts, the upper town and lower town. Near Rodakino, in Korakas direction, are two beautiful secluded beaches. The first beach is at the end of the gorge. It is a beach with small pebbles, east of here are sea caves. The beach is well organised, there are sun loungers and parasols. Also,there are restaurants and cafes. Westbound is another beach, this is a sandy and pebble beach, here it is slightly quieter. Also on this beach is located a taverna. On May 24 in the year 1821 for the first time on Crete, the banner of revolt against the Turks was hoisted by Melchizedek Tsouderos.
