Gouvia. Gouvia is a busy resort, in the eastern part of Corfu, 9 kilometres northwest of Corfu town. Gouvia is suitable for families. The beautiful green bay in which the town lies, forms a natural harbour. The Pantokrator mountain in the north and the ruins of a Venetian arsenal give this place its own face. The beach is suitable for children, there are sunbeds for hire and there are water sports. Behind the beach are all kinds of restaurants and cafeterias. South of the village the marina is located.
The nightlife in Gouvia is fine, because there are lots of nice bars and nightclubs in and around Gouvia. The food in the restaurants and taverns is good and the people are very friendly.
Gouvia is a great base to explore the island with a rental car or scooter. A nice trip by car or scooter is for example to visit Corfu town, this can be combined with the beautiful view at Kanoni. You can also go to Sidari with the famous "Canal d'amour". Very special is Peroulades with the steep cliffs. You can also make a day trip to Agios Gordis and Paleokastritsa and of course to Gastouri with the Palace of Sissi. Finally, the fishing harbor of Kouloura is definitely worth a visit.
