Mytilinioi. Mytilinioi is a village on the hills of the greek island of Samos which was founded by residents of Mytilini on the island of Lesbos. It is located 14 kilometres southwest of Samos Town and 7 kilometres northwest of Pythagorion. It lies west of the 1153 meter high mountain Karvounis on the slopes of a hill. A straight road runs through the village, there are all kinds of shops and mini markets. Notable are the many beautiful mansions. In Mytilinioi there is an old traditional village square with a church. Surrounding the square are restaurants and cafeterias, and it is has a nice authentic “Greek" feel.
A walk through the village is also nice, because you see all kinds of traditional houses and beautiful churches. The narrow alleys and stairways in the village are paved and here and there you'll even see a souvenir shop. The large church in the village is the church of the Holy Mother (Panagia).
The main attraction of Mytilinioi is on the outskirts of the village when you drive towards Chora. The Paleontological museum housed in the building of the Natural History Museum of the Aegean. Another attraction near here is the monastery of Agia Triada four kilometres south-east of Mytilinioi.
