Agios Konstantinos - Samos (Greece)
Agios Konstantinos. Agios Konstantinos is a coastal village on the Greek island of Samos. It is located about 21 kilometres west of Samos town on the route to Karlovassi. The village is surrounded by a green environment and the slopes are well-covered with trees, vines and shrubs.
Agios Konstantinos consists of two hamlets. The old village is situated higher and here is the church of Agios Konstantinos, to which the village owes its name. About five hundred meters below, on the coast, is another hamlet where tourists daily come to enjoy the sea and the beach. This is the new section and the inhabitants themselves call this "Gialos" which means "beach" or "to Kato Chorio" which means "the lower village". The lower part is elongated built along the coast and all the houses that were built in between the green trees, have a wonderful view of the sea.
Agios Konstantinos has about 400 inhabitants, but these are duplicated during summer by the arrival of thousands of tourists . The inhabitants are mainly occupied with tourism and agriculture (vines, olive groves and vegetables). Not far from Agios Konstantinos lies the valley of the nightingales an area with abundant running water, where the song of the nightingale is heard everywhere.
