Karavomylos. Karavomylos is a small fishing village in the east of the island of Kefalonia. Karavomylos is located two kilometres west of Sami, there live about 350 inhabitants in the village. On the pebble beach, there is a traditional water mill and just behind it, the Lake of Karavomylos. According to scientists, the Lake of Karavomylos has an underground connection with Katavothres at Argostoli and the Melissani lake.
Karavomylos, which is surrounded by beautiful wooded hills has a number of tavernas and cafes. The main attractions nearby are the caves of Melissani and Drogarati (5 km). A visit to these caves is more than worth it. Melissani is impressive because of the lake located in the cave, Drogarati for its impressive stalactites and stalagmites. In the cave Drogarati there is even a stand where concerts are held, because of its excellent acoustics.
