Makrigialos

Makrigialos - Lassithi Prefecture (Greece)

MAKRIGIALOS. The quiet village Makrigialos lies on the southeast coast and has a long sand / pebble beach with perfect bathing. With only a small amount of properties in close proximity, the beach is never crowded and there are only a few villagers and tourists. In the evening you can taste the local cuisine in traditional programs. Makrigialos has coffee shops, bars, bakeries, water sports and tavernas which serve both traditional and international cuisine. For those who want to relax the region offers several options. To name a few: the archaeological sites of Zakros and Itanos, the Monastery of Toplou, the abandoned villages ETIA and Voila, the beautiful Perki pass, the harbour towns of Sitia and Ierapetra and the exotic coastline of Vai and Xerokampos. 6 kilometres away lies the village of Agios Stefanos, which is a public observatory. You can follow any Astronomy and an art workshop there.
