KRITSA. Kritsa is located 11 kilometres west of Agios Nikolaos and is situated at an altitude of 375 metres. There are several churches with beautiful frescoes, which date from the 12th,14th and 15th centuries. The inhabitants of Kritsa are descendants of the inhabitants of ancient Lato Epera, whose ruins can be found on the northeast side of the village. Kritsa is a picturesque and traditional mountain village. It is like an amphitheatre on the slopes of the mountain Kastella. Kritsa is known for its handicrafts and in the long main street you'll find all sorts of stalls with mats, carpets, pots, etc. The traditional costumes, customs and festivals are deeply rooted in the way of life in the region.
