Dikeos mountain. Dikeos is the highest mountain of Kos, the highest peak is 846 meters (nearly 2,800 feet). Dikeos is located more or less south of Kos town, about 15 kilometers (9mi) away. On the northern slopes of Dikeos you will find Zia, the most picturesque village of the island. The southern slopes are steep and bare, the northern slopes gradually run down and are covered with forests. The northern slopes must be among the most spectacular landscapes on the island. Here a natural park is also located, the Kos Natural Park. This park is well maintained and there are all kinds of animals in the park, deer and goats, chickens and rabbits. There are stone footpaths for those who enjoy hiking and the view of Kos town and the islands of Kalymnos and Pserimos from the park is astonishing. In the park there is a snack bar and a children’s playground. The park is open every day from 9:00 am to sunset. On the top of Dikeos Mountain, above Zia, you will find the historic chapel dating from the year 1079, dedicated to Dikeos Christos.
