Kardamena. Kardamena is located on the south coast of the Greek island of Kos, 30 kilometers (19 mi) from Kost town and 7 kilometers (4 mi) from the airport of Kos. It is a tourist resort with 1,300 permanent residents. Kardamena is especially popular among young people, because of the exciting nightlife.
Once, ancient Alasarna was located here. You can still see archaeological finds such as the temple of Apollo and a theatre of antiquity.
Kardamena boasts several good beaches. These are primarily sandy beaches with occasional larger or smaller rock slabs. The deep blue water is generally shallow which makes Kardamena a favorite holiday destination for families with children. Beach vendors offer a variety of water sports such as windsurfing, pedal boats, parasailing, and more. In Kardamena you will find luxury hotels, but also more affordable accommodations.
In and around the village are nice taverns, restaurants, cafeterias, bars and discos. There are also car and motorbike rental companies, souvenir shops, bakeries, grocery stores, fruit and vegetable shops and much more. Those who love cycling can hire a bike and choose excellent routes.
