Agrinio - Aetoloakarnania (Greece)
Agrinio. Agrinio is located 35 kilometers (22 miles) north of Messolonghi. It is a major tobacco-producing center with good facilities for tourists. The archaeological museum, the Papastratios library and the tomb of Agios Christoforos on the hill with a panoramic view are some of the places that make this area worth visiting. Another stop that we can recommend is Angelokastro with the Byzantine Monastery of the Pantocrator, the ruins of a Byzantine fortress at Malgi Hora (4 km/2.5 mi NW), the Klissoura gorge with the monastery of Agia Eleoussa and the charming landscape around the Aheloos dam. East of Agrinio, along Lake Trihonida, you will find the village of Thermo, at the ruins of ancient Thermo, with an interesting museum.
