Acropolis Museum

Acropolis Museum - Attica (Greece)

Athens Acropolis Museum. In Athens several museums are very interesting. The Acropolis museum on the Dionysiou Aeropagitou street is magnificent. The Acropolis Museum opened its doors in June 2009. This museum contains more than 4,000 objects from the Acropolis area. There are also sculptures to be admired, but not all the sculptures stand here where they belong..

Many sculptures are to be seen in the British Museum in London, because they were stolen by the British during the Turkish occupation. Under the watchful eye of the Turkish occupier who then conspired with the English, the political game of that time was played.

The Greek government, as well as leading Greeks (including the late Melina Merkouri) have undertaken various actions over the last decades, to recover the treasure, but unfortunately without success. More information about the Acropolis Museum
