Perachori. Perachori is a village in the southern part of the Greek island of Ithaca. The village is about 300 meters high, 3 kilometers (2 mi) south of the capital of the island Vathy. It is in one of the most fertile areas of the island, surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. The houses in the village it’s like they were built on each other. The view over Vathy Bay is fantastic.
In the village there are several churches with beautiful bell tower. In the middle of the village is the Palioras tavern with a beautiful terrace balcony with excellent views. One kilometre (0.6 mi) from Perachori is Paliochora located. Here are the remains of an ancient city and churches from about 1500 BC. (the Venetian period). Paliochora is accessible via a footpath, as is the slightly further. When you like hiking, there are quite a lot of interesting routes to choose from, one of the most popular ones is from Perachori to Paliochora and the Nymphs cave or a walk to the Taxiarches monastery.
