Frikes. The village Frikes is in the northeast of the Greek island of Ithaca (Ithaki). This fishing village and harbor is about 16 kilometers (10 mi) from Vathy, the capital of Ithaca and 11 kilometers (7 mi) from the port of Pisaetos. According to Homer, Frikes used to be the port of Reithros in ancient times. In this cozy village there are many (fish) restaurants. You can sit and enjoy on the terrace in the harbor at the water. The area is very beautiful, its lush vegetation includes pines and olive trees.
Striking are the old windmills that stand on the slopes of the mountains. There are small fishing boats that moor at its harbor but also sailing boats. The names of the restaurants are applicable here. We saw the names "Odysseus", "Ullyses" and "Penelope".
There are several pebble beaches, with beautiful turquoise colored seawater. It is a favorite place among sailors and windsurfers. You can rent pedals and canoes here and for the little children there is even a playground next to the beach.
