Kionia. Kionia is one of the most popular resorts on the Greek island of Tinos. It is located three kilometers (just over two miles) west of Tinos town. The long sand and pebble beach is well managed. There are umbrellas and sunbeds for hire.
In Kionia, you’ll find many hotels and apartments for tourists. On the beach, next to the road, are several taverns and cafeterias. In the village are the ancient temples of the Greek god Poseidon and his wife Amfitriti, built in the fourth century BC. People say that these temples were built to thank these gods for saving the island from a snake infestation. In ancient times Poseidon was also seen as a physician, as was his wife Amfitriti. Amfitriti had the strength to help women who could not have children and gave them fertility. Games, called Posidoneia, plays and other events were held at those times.
Besides the beach of Kionia, there are several other much quieter beaches, like Platia Ammos and Germanos.
