Didimoticho - Evros (Greece)

Didimoticho. Didimoticho is a Greek village, in north-eastern Greece. It is located 94 kilometres north of Alexandroupolis, two kilometres from the Turkish border and 40 kilometres from the Bulgarian border. Didimoticho (meaning "twin wall") is located where the river Evros and the Red River merge together. The Evros River is the river that forms a natural border between Greece and Turkey.

In Didimoticho live about 10.000 people. The town is built next to a hill where on top the “Kale Portes” Castle is located. On this hill are impressive caves. Other sights are the castle of the princess, the church of Agia Ekaterini, the Pythion Castle, the church of Panagia Eleftherotria, the ecclesiastical museum, the military museum, the ethnographic museum and the Gallery of Nalbantis.
