Xigia - Zakynthos (Greece)
Xigia (Xingia): Xigia is a natural health resort beach in the northeast of the island and south of Aghios Nikolaos, 24 kilometres north of Zakynthos town. It is located in a very beautiful little bay and is visited daily by many tourists. In the sea water, there is a rock from which very cold water flows which contains collagen. The smell of sulphur in the air is very strong here. Many tourists go to 'Xigia beach' because of the collagen. Collagen is a white substance coming here from the cliff and flows into the sea. They say that you will look much younger when you get in touch with these white particles.
Xigia Beach is really a very nice sandy beach. It is not that big, in the summer sometimes you won’t find a place on the beach even to lay your towel. Parking can be at the top of the slope, then you have to walk about 100 meters down. On the beach there are no cafes, just a sort of kiosk where soft drinks and snacks can be ordered.
