Marathonisi - Zakynthos (Greece)
Marathonisi. Marathonisi is a small island located east of Limni Keri. It lies in the south of Zakynthos, in Laganas Bay. The island is protected by Natura 2000. Natura 2000 is a European network of protected areas in the European Union. During the summer months, Carretta-Carretta turtles lay their eggs at the beach of the islet. On the other side of Marathonisi, it is rocky and there are several caves. During the summer months, tourist boats sail from Laganas and Agios Sostis, to the caves of Marathonisi where tourists can swim. At the steep cliffs there is a small beach, next to the beach are some sea caves.
