Pefkos. Pefkos is a beach on the Greek island of Skyros that is located twelve kilometres southwest of Skyros Town. It is found in a beautiful setting, in a lovely bay. In the sea you can see many small fishing boats that are stationed here.
The sand pebble beach is very nice and the sea is remarkable for its turquoise colours. On the beach there is a taverna where you can eat well for very little money, it is the taverna of Ms Stamatia. The surroundings are very nice here, because the green pine trees reach to the sea.
The name Pefkos is derived from the Greek word Pefko, which means pine tree. That explains a lot. Just above Pefkos,on a higher hill, is the church of Agios Panteleimon. Every year, on July 27th festivals in honour of St. Panteleimon are held. It is more than worthwhile visiting this church because the view from above is breath-taking.
Another beautiful beach, a little further north, is the beach of Agios Fokas. Also this beach is in a very nice environment.
