Farsala - Larissa (Greece)

Farsala is the second most important city of the district Larissa and is located in the south of this district, in southern Thessaly, Greece. Farsala is one of the oldest cities in the region. According to historians, it would have been the home of the hero Achilles.

If you come to Farsala, please visit the ruins of Paleofarsalou, the temple of Agia Paraskevi and the prehistoric graves. Another important city is Elassona which is built on the slopes of Olympus. It is an old town with traditional houses and a lot of sights such as the stone bridge in the town, the ruins of the ancient city Olosson, the Byzantine wall of Emperor Ioustinianus and Panagia Olimpiotissa which was built in the 14th century by Emperor Andronikos II Paleologos.  Farsala is also famous for its halva.
