Anafi - Cyclades (Greece)

Anafi. Anafi is a small island, which lies east of the island of Santorini. This island is ideal for people seeking peace and quiet. It is a walker’s island. Even though in recent years more and more tourists have discovered Anafi, the island has retained its original character. On the island of Anafi you will find some taverns, bars and very friendly people. Its land area is 38 square km (nearly 15 square mi), the coast length is 32 kilometers (20 mi), and has a permanent population of 300.
On Anafi there is only one inhabited place, Chora. There is a road that leads from the picturesque harbour of Aghios Nikolaos up to Chora, the only settlement on the island. Chora is the name used by the islanders for their capital. Another other name they frequently use is Anafi. From Anafi you have a beautiful panoramic view over the sea.
Anafi (Chora) is built on the slopes of a hill where you will also find the ruins of a Venetian castle from the 13th century. Chora is a typical Cycladic village with whitewashed houses, windmills and narrow alleyways.
