Stenies. Stenies is a scenic village in Andros with nice houses, north of Andros town. In this village, the streets are too narrow for driving and the many stairs just make driving impossible here. They call Stenies “the village of captains” because so many residents of the island were captains of boats, who came here in the summer, to rest.
The village has one cafe where the villagers and passers-by can enjoy a refreshing drink or coffee. There are no shops, restaurants or other businesses. It is said that the people of the village are all so wealthy, that they do not need to own such businesses.
Stenies is located about three kilometers (less than 2 mi) from Chora (Andros town) at an altitude of approximately 80 meters (260 ft) and it has about 200 inhabitants. The nearest beaches are the beaches Gialia and Piso Gialia. The village is in a beautiful green area and has great views.
