Amopi - Karpathos (Greece)
Amopi (Amoopi). Amopi is located about six kilometers (less than 4 mi) south of Pigadia, the capital of the Greek island of Karpathos. It is located between Pigadia and the airport, on the east coast of the island.
The coast at Amopi is spectacular, and as a result tourism is growing significantly. The village lies against wooded hills. At the center of Amopi, on top of the rocks, is the lovely Agii Apostoli church. There are three stunning beaches at Amopi. The main beach is a beautiful, sandy beach with umbrellas and sunbeds available. This beach has a gentle slope. Among the rocks is a dock designed for fishing boats and small pleasure boats.
Another beach consists of fine pebbles and crystal clear waters. Here you can go snorkeling. This beach is bordered by steep rocks. Near the coast is a small, rocky island to explore. At the beach there are several taverns and cafes. The beaches at Amopi are sheltered from the wind. A little further away are some other gorgeous bays, with sandy beaches. All necessary facilities for tourists are available in Amopi and there are several hotels in Amopi.
